What is Speech Pathology?

Speech pathologists—often known as “speechies”—are friendly, highly trained professionals who help children find their voice and build confidence in how they communicate.

At Hope for Kids Speech Pathology, we support kids aged 0–12 years with all kinds of communication skills, from saying their first words to telling stories, making friends, and understanding the world around them. As a neurodivergent-affirming practice, we celebrate and respect each child’s unique strengths, communication style, and way of experiencing the world. We also help with things like listening, reading, and spelling.

We are passionate about working with children. Most importantly, we know how to make learning fun! Through play, creativity, and connection, we create a safe and supportive space where children can grow, learn, and shine.

Our Services

language development & social experience

We support children to build their communication skills in ways that feel natural and meaningful to them. This can include growing vocabulary, putting words together, following everyday instructions, and sharing ideas.

We take a neurodiversity-affirming approach, which means we respect and value each child’s unique strengths, communication style, and way of experiencing the world.

Through play-based, engaging activities, we help children develop confidence in connecting and communicating with others.

Speech pronunciation & stuttering

If your child has difficulty pronouncing sounds clearly or experiences stuttering, we’re here to help. We use gentle, evidence-based strategies to support clearer speech and smoother communication, always working at your child’s pace in a supportive and encouraging environment.

literacy

Strong communication skills are the foundation for reading and writing. We support early literacy development, including phonological awareness, reading, and spelling, helping children build the skills they need for success at school and beyond.

alternative
augmentative
communication

For children who need extra support to communicate, we offer a range of options, including visuals, communication boards, and speech-generating devices (often called AAC).

AAC simply means using different ways to support or expand spoken words, and it can help children share their thoughts, needs, and personality in ways that feel right for them.

We work closely with families to find the tools that best suit each child, building on their strengths and supporting them to communicate in ways that are comfortable, effective, and truly their own.

parent coaching

We believe parents play a key role in their child’s communication journey. Through parent coaching, we provide practical strategies, guidance, and support to help you build your child’s skills during everyday routines. Our goal is to empower you with the confidence and tools to support your child’s progress at home in a way that feels natural and achievable.

telehealth sessions

We offer convenient and flexible telehealth sessions, allowing your child to access speech therapy from the comfort of home. These sessions are interactive, engaging, and tailored to suit your child’s needs, with guidance for parents to support learning between sessions.

mentoring

We are passionate about supporting the growth of other speech pathologists. Through mentoring, we offer guidance, knowledge-sharing, and practical support to help clinicians build confidence and develop their skills. Whether you’re early in your career or looking to expand your expertise, our mentoring is collaborative, supportive, and tailored to your professional goals

bilingual support (Spanish)

We are proud to offer support in both English and Spanish. We value each child’s home language and culture, and work with families to support communication development across both languages in a way that feels natural and meaningful.

Let's work together!
